White Pine Stampede 2.0

Although the committee would like nothing more than to offer our traditional point-to-point ski race, the current trail conditions cannot safely be used. Just like in 2023, the 2024 WPS Course will use the slopes of Schuss Mountain’s King of The Hill loop.

White Pine Stampede 2.0 is an alternative race which utilizes the resort’s King of the Hill Nordic trail. This trail has plenty of man-made snow, and traverses the perimeter of their ski hill, Schuss Mountain.

WHITE PINE STAMPEDE 2.0

The new race will be 3 loops (approximately 10.5k total), and will be taking place before the lifts open for the day (so there’s no need to worry about mixed skier traffic or that pesky red chairlift). This trail will be lit and classic tracks will be added to the hill.

This race is recommended for skiers at an average or above average skiing level. this course is challenging, but not dangerous and should only be completed by experienced skiers. Skiers must be comfortable with both climbing and descending, but there will certainly be enough flats for folks to pick up speed.

Because of this, we are offering any current registered skier who wishes not to race in teh 2024 WPS an opportunity to do the following:

  1. Forward their entry to the White Pine Stampede 2025 race (Can purchase a race shirt)
  2. Donate your entry fee to the WPS to cover the cost for this year’s race.
  3. Donate your entry fee to The Iron Vault and/or John McKaig Memorial Scholarship.

A committee member will be reaching out to all pre-registered skiers on which option they prefer.
