White Pine Stampede Races--Saturday, February 3Racers in the White Pine Stampede


The 50K Race (slightly over 31 miles) and the 20K Race (12 miles) begin at Mancelona High School and end at Summit Village at Shanty Creek. Awards will be presented to the top three finishers by race style--freestyle or classic, age, and gender after skiing through some of the most beautiful landscapes in Northern Michigan.


50K start time: 9:30 with a pre-race meeting at 8:45 a.m.

20K start time: 10:30 with a pre-race meeting at 9:45 a.m.


The Roger Eschedor 10K Timed Tour (6 miles) also begins at Mancelona High School, but ends at Schuss Village at Shanty Creek.


10K start time: 11:30 with a pre-race meeting at 10:45 a.m.


Packet Pick-up/Check-In

Friday, February 2, 2018:   Packet Pickup and new registration at Shanty Creek Resort  (Lakeview Hotel Lobby) from 3 - 8 pm

Saturday, February 3, 2018:  7:30 am - race time. New entries and packet pickup will be available at Mancelona High School.  New entries and registration changes must be completed 45 minutes prior to the scheduled race start time.

Each racer receives a long-sleeved commemorative t-shirt with their registration fee.

King of the Hill--Sunday, February 4

King of the HillGrab any non-motorized, non-wheeled snow equipment you want to use and join this timed race combining uphill and downhill travel on the groomed ski runs of Schuss Mountain. Last year’s race had snowshoes, snowboards, alpine ski equipment, cross country skate equipment and cross country classic equipment! Boots and/or shoes only are not permitted…you must have some form of accepted winter snow conveyance equipment on for the downhill sections at minimum. Participants can choose one lap or two. One lap distance is approximately 4 KM. The start is LeMans style, with your equipment laid out 10 yards from the starting line. At the start, participants sprint to their equipment, strap in and go. The course follows the ski runs with uphill section, downhill section, uphill section, downhill section w/gates, to the finish (or second lap).


Pre-register before Saturday February 3rd for $20. Same day registration for $25 and pre-registered packet pick-up takes place in Ivan’s in Schuss Village at Shanty Creek Resorts on Sunday February 4. Awards for overall King and Queen of the Hill, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place age group places and every participant gets a logoed gear bag.
